The following patch will correct this situation:</para><screen><userinput>patch -Np1 -i ../&inetutils-no-server-man-pages-patch;</userinput></screen><para>Now prepare Inetutils for compilation:</para><screen><userinput>./configure --prefix=/usr --libexecdir=/usr/sbin \    --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var \    --disable-logger --disable-syslogd \    --disable-whois --disable-servers</userinput></screen><para>The meaning of the configure options:</para><itemizedlist><listitem><para><userinput>--disable-logger</userinput>: This optionprevents Inetutils from installing the logger program, which is used byscripts to pass messages to the System Log Daemon. We do not install itbecause Util-linux installs a better version later.</para></listitem><listitem><para><userinput>--disable-syslogd</userinput>: This optionprevents Inetutils from installing the System Log Daemon, which isinstalled with the Sysklogd package.</para></listitem><listitem><para><userinput>--disable-whois</userinput>: This option disablesthe building of the Inetutils whois client, which is woefully out of date.Instructions for a better whois client are in the BLFS book.</para></listitem><listitem><para><userinput>--disable-servers</userinput>: This disables theinstallation of the various network servers included as part of the Inetutilspackage. These servers are deemed not appropriate in a basic LFS system. Someare insecure by nature and are only considered safe on trusted networks.
