  2. <title>Installation of Glibc</title>
  3. <para>Before starting to install glibc, you must cd into the
  4. glibc-&glibc-version; directory and unpack glibc-linuxthreads inside
  5. the glibc-&glibc-version; directory, not in /usr/src as you normally
  6. would do.</para>
  7. <para>Install Glibc by running the following commands:</para>

  32. <para>During the configure stage you will see the following warning:</para>
  33. <blockquote><screen>configure: warning:
  34. *** An auxiliary program is missing or too old;
  35. *** some features will be disabled.
  36. *** Check the INSTALL file for required versions.</screen></blockquote>
  37. <para> This warning refers to the missing msgfmt program from the
  38. gettext package, but it can safely be ignored in our case. The glibc
  39. installation will not be affected.</para>
