  8. <para>The info program reads Info documents, usually contained in the
  9. /usr/share/info directory. Info documents are like man(ual) pages, but
  10. they tend to be more in depth than just explaining the options to a

  13. <para>infokey compiles a source file containing Info customizations into
  14. a binary format.</para></sect4>
  15. <sect4><title>install-info</title>
  16. <para>The install-info program updates the info entries. When the info
  17. program is run a list with available topics (ie: available info documents) will
  18. be presented. The install-info program is used to maintain this list of
  19. available topics. If info files are removed manually, it is also necessary
  20. to delete the topic in the index file as well. This program is used for
  21. that. It also works the other way around when info documents are
  22. added.</para></sect4>

  24. <para>The makeinfo program translates Texinfo source documents into various
  25. formats. Available formats are: info files, plain text and HTML.</para></sect4>
